A ginger bread workshop is reopened at Lectar Inn in Radovljica after two centuries. At the workshop, which operates as a museum, you can witness the old original procedure of ginger bread making.

Apart from the traditional hearts, different sizes (diameter cca 7, 9, 11, 14, 16 and 22cm), other shapes can be made from ginger bread, too. On request your logo, special colour or inscription can be added. Verses are translated into different languages. If you wish, we can wrap your ginger bread in a gift paper.

These renowned products of old Slovene crafts can be a very nice tourist souvenir from our country. Ginger bread is a suitable gift for Christmas, New Year, Easter, Valentine, weddings and different family anniversaries. It can also be an atractive business or protocol gift.

Gingerbread baking is a recognized Slovenian traditional craft. First mentions date back to the 14th century. In the late Middle Ages gingerbread was very popular among the upper classes, whereas in rural areas first gingerbread bakers appeared in the 19th century, when the craft reached its peak of popularity. In those times gingerbread hearts were very appreciated and precious love gifts. Gingerbread is formed and decorated by using wooden and metal models or by hands.
